Inspiration for CEA’s Correctional Education Advocate Award The Correctional Education Association’s Correctional Education Advocate Award was inspired in part by the dedication of Corporal Roy Kluss to inmate education in the Lakeshore district of Wisconsin. To be selected for an award from a professional organization such as the Correctional Education Association has a positive ripple effect, the rings of which include receiving recognition for receiving recognition. National/international recognition can result in positive publicity for one’s program both statewide and locally where potentially it has the most influence. The depth of professional association honors is experienced at the moment when a co-worker or supervisor says, “I am nominating you for…” Yes, to be nominated is, indeed, an honor! Please consider all this when debating whether or not it is worth the time and energy to fill out a nomination application on behalf of a colleague. Make the investment. The benefits are extraordinary. Click here for Nomination Instructions for the Advocate Award (PDF)
