Internet Training

Several years ago, I attended a conference workshop that introduced an internet training for inmates. It was a CD program that showed students sample web sites, how to navigate, etc., without giving them internet access. Does anyone know where to find such a program? Thanks for the help!

This was just posted to the Media-L list and may have the information you're looking for, Maureen.

Media Awareness Network Helps Youth Earn their Passport to the Internet

Media Awareness Network (MNet) today launched Passport to the Internet, a new online tutorial funded by Inukshuk Wireless Learning Plan Fund and TELUS, to help students in Grades four to eight develop the critical thinking skills they need to navigate the Web in a secure and ethical manner.

Passport to the Internet is available as a stand-alone program or as a component of MNet’s licensed professional development program the Web Awareness Workshop Series. It is a Web-based resource accompanied by an extensive teacher’s guide that features detailed instructions, backgrounders, classroom activities and handouts. More information on Passport to the Internet can be found on MNet’s Web site at [www.media-awareness.ca].
